Sotheary Prak

Born to Cambodian immigrant parents in 1984, Sotheary Prak was raised in Malden, Massachusetts, for 7 years before she moved to Long Beach, California, with her family. She attended Longfellow Elementary School and, due to her parents' frequent moving; she was transferred to Bret Hart Elementary School a couple years later. In the summer of 1995, Sotheary decided to move back to Malden and go to school there. Currently, she is a sophomore in Malden High School.

Sotheary Prak heard about Khmer Voice website from a relative of hers in Long Beach. Now she is inspired by all the authors in Khmer Voice who write from the heart. She is planning to finish high school. Her main goal is to go to medical school and become a successful pharmacist. After receiving her degrees in pharmacy, she plans to go back to Cambodia and help other Khmers in need of medical attention. By voicing herself in poetic fashion and submitting her poems to Khmer Voice, Sotheary feels she has contributed to the healing process of the Khmer community.
