I Must Survive
By Serey Nguy, 9th grade,
Lakewood High School,

After all these years,
My heart beats with fear.
People I used to know,
Landscapes I used to see.
It’s not like the way it used to be.
This country is filled with blood,
‘Cause we have more hate than love.
Sooner or later I will be free
But I know that I must survive.
I must survive
Until I reach the land of liberty,
And be what I can be.
